Description	:	Elizabeth Sapoch London, beloved Mother, Grandmother and Greatgrandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at Peachtree Centre. She was the daughter and only child of the late James Glenn Sapoch and Mollie Moore Sapoch and the widow of Harvey Randolph London. Mrs. London was born on Jan. 21, 1912, in Blacksburg, where she lived all of her life, except for part-time residences in Lake Lure and Camden. She was the daughter and only child of the late James Glenn Sapoch and Mollie Moore Sapoch and the widow of Harvey Randolph London. Mrs. London was born on Jan. 21, 1912, in Blacksburg, where she lived all of her life, except for part-time residences in Lake Lure and Camden. She was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and of Winthrop College. She began her teaching career in Lowell, N.C., and taught at the former Holly Grove School in Blacksburg. She retired from Blacksburg Elementary as a second grade teacher, after teaching for many years. She was a charter member of The Rosemary Book Club and her hobbies and talents included cooking, reading, walking, playing bridge, needlework, home decorating and travel. Mrs. London was a founding member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mary London Durbin (William H.) of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Anne London Harris of Gaffney; four grandchildren, Sarah U. Shiflett (Roger) and Harvey R. London II (Frieda), both of Gaffney, J.M. "Mack" Upchurch (Jill) of Lugoff and Sarah Beth London of North Myrtle Beach; six greatgrandchildren, Jared, Jenna, Jacob and Jason Upchurch, all of Lugoff, and Blair and Brandon Shiflett of Gaffney; a daughter-in-law, Monnie London of North Myrtle Beach; honorary mother of Jayne C. Burton (Tom) of York; and special friends, Elizabeth Flynn and Mary Brenda Wood. Mrs. London was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Harvey London. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, at Blakely Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 28, at Mountain View Cemetery with the Rev. James "Bucky" Brown officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Peachtree Centre, Pam Powell, Ruby Starnes and Okesha Smith. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: The Building Fund, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 1600 W. Floyd Baker Blvd., Gaffney, S.C. 29341.
