Elizabeth Sylvester, daughter of Mr. and Mr. M. Sylvester was born in Pittsfield, Warren County, Pennsylvania, November 12, 1841. Her early years were spent in that vicinity. Read More	GRANDMA REW PASSES Mrs. Elizabeth Row, pioneer settler, of Decatur County, passed to her rest at the home of her son, Arthur Rew, of Worth, Mo., Monday, September 15, 1924, after an illness of many months. Elizabeth Sylvester, daughter of Mr. and Mr. M. Sylvester was born in Pittsfield, Warren County, Pennsylvania, November 12, 1841. Her early years were spent in that vicinity. In 1856 she united In marriage with Sylvester Rew. Five years later, the little family left their home in the east and enduring the privations incident to the life of the pioneer, crossed the great western desert. For about two years they lived in Salt Lake City, Mr. Rew working in the construction of the great tabernacle. Being unable to endorse the beliefs and practices of the dominant church, they moved to Idaho, thence to Wisconsin, when they remained for a number of years. While in Wisconsin, they joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Mrs. Rew being baptized, June 18, 1873, at Black Creek. In 1877, they started for Independence, Mo., but stopping in Lamoni they were persuaded to locate permanently. Lamoni and vicinity has been the home of Mrs. Rew to the time of her death. To Mr. and Mrs. Rew were born twelve children, two of whom, Edward and Sylvester, preceded her in death. Her husband passed to his reward in 1905. Of her children there remain to mourn the passing of a devoted mother: Charles M. of Lamoni; W. A. of Springtown, Ark.; O.M. Wellsville, Kansas; Mrs. E.A. Cooper, Oshkosh, Nebr.; Mrs. C.W. Zeiss, Chicago, Ill.; Arthur of Worth, Mo.; Mrs. C. S. Meglemere of Bridgeport, Nebr.; Peter A., Lewis H., and Roy R., all of Lamoni. During her entire illness her oldest son, Charles was in constant attendance and spared himself no effort to make the last hours of his mother's life happy.
