ZIMMERMAN SUCCUMBS TO LONG ILLNESS HAD LIVED HERE ALL OF HER LIFE Deceased Was Born in This County and Lived in LeMars Since Childhood—Was Prominent in Church and Other Circles. Mrs. Zimmerman, wife of W. H. Zimmerman, died at her home, 1319 Eagle street on Friday morning at half past three. Death was due to internal cancer. Mrs. Zimmerman has been ill for the past ten weeks and suffered greatly during her last illness and death came as a relief from pain. When overtaken by illness her case was pronounced hopeless by physicians and for the past three weeks the end was momentarily expected. Mrs. Zimmerman realized the situation and met the inevitable with calmness and fortitude. She bore her sufferings with resignation and was grateful for the ministrations of her family and friends and with smiling hope accepted the coming of the end. Mrs. Zimmerman lived practically all her life in this county and was widely known. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Koenig were among the early settlers in Plymouth county coming here from Baltimore in the seventies. Elizabeth T. Koenig was born in Plymouth township on June 6, 1871, and came to LeMars in 1880, which has been her home since. She was brought up and educated in the LeMars public schools and the Northwest Iowa Normal college. She was united in marriage with William H. Zimmerman on May 16, 1894. Two daughters were born to them one of whom died in childhood. She leaves to mourn her husband and her daughter, Cleone. She also leaves her aged father, J. G. Koenig, of this city and her brothers and sisters, who are H. D. Koenig, of Delia, Alta, Canada; Jacob G. Koenig and Walter Koenig, of this city; Mrs. Ida Moeller of Chicago; and Mrs. G. Hulsebus, of Eddyville, Neb.; and a large number of relatives and friends who mourn her death. A brother died in infancy and one sister, Mrs. Phil Schneider, and mother preceded her in death. Mrs. Zimmerman was a devoted daughter, sister, wife and mother. A homemaker in the greatest sense of the word, self sacrificing and thoughtful of others, pleasant in all her associations. She was active in church work and its kindred societies and in social circles. Mrs. Zimmerman was a member of the Eastern Star and members of the order attended the funeral services which were held yesterday afternoon at Emanuel church in a body. The services were conducted by Rev. J. J. DeWall, pastor of the church, who paid a fitting tribute to the memory of the deceased. The pallbearers were six nephews: Herbert, Samuel and Henry Zimmerman, Rudolph, Ralph and Robert Schneider. The remains were interred in the family lot in the city cemetery.
