Description	:	Elizabeth Truss was a daughter of William Truss and his wife, name unknown. Elizabeth was born in Lowers Penns Neck, Salem County, New Jersey in 1798. It appears that as an older teen-ager she married a man with the surname "Williams". That husband either died or the marriage was terminated by an annulment of a divorce. In 1918, according to our copy of her hand written marriage certificate obtained from the original Salem County New Jersey Courthouse Records, Elizabeth was married to Francis Hill. Elizabeth was born in Lowers Penns Neck, Salem County, New Jersey in 1798. It appears that as an older teen-ager she married a man with the surname "Williams". That husband either died or the marriage was terminated by an annulment of a divorce. In 1918, according to our copy of her hand written marriage certificate obtained from the original Salem County New Jersey Courthouse Records, Elizabeth was married to Francis Hill. At the time she was 20 years of age and appears to have been previously married, (re the surname Williams). We believe that was the case and that we now have the reason for her last name being Williams on the marriage certificate. Francis & Elizabeth Hill's children were: Daniel Frances Hill was born in Lower Penns Neck, Salem County New Jersey in 1819; Jesse Justus Hill was born in 1820 in Hamilton County Ohio; Samuel Hill was born in 1822 in Hamilton County Ohio; Sarah Ellen Hill was born 24 December 1826 in Wayne Township, Warren County Ohio; (Hamilton County was split to form Warren County about this time). Adam Hill was born 1831(?) in Hamilton or Warren County Ohio; Henry Hill was born in 1831 in Hamilton or Warren County Ohio; Gideon Hill was born in 1833 in Hamilton or Warren County Ohio; Israel Hill was born 15 May 1835 in Warren County Ohio; and Aenos Clark Hill (aka Enos, Emile, Clark and AC) was born 22 August 1838 in Warren County Ohio. Francis & Elizabeth moved to Hamilton County, Ohio in about 1820 where they lived until 1837. They then moved to Fulton Co. Illinois where they lived and farmed until 1852, when they moved to Louisa County, Iowa. Francis died 31 January 1860 and was buried in Carpenter Cemetery, Oakland Twp, Louisa County, Iowa. Elizabeth continued to live on the farm with three unmarried sons, Aenos, Gideon & Israel for a few years but by 1870 she was living with her son Samuel and his family. She died 18 February 1871 at age 72 and was buried alongside her husband Francis Hill, in the Coffin/Carpenter Cemetery in Oakland Twp, Louisa County, Iowa.
