Heaton to await the time set for the funderal services. Mrs. Heaton died Sunday, September 17th, at St. Mary's Hospital, Columbus, where she had been confined for three weeks. Death was due to pernicious anemia, a malady from which she had been suffering for some time. Physicians in charge had planned to make a blood transfusion should she gain strength sufficient to stand the ordeal, but the end came rather unexpectedly. Since her mariage to Francis Heaton on February 8th, 1908, she was up to the time of their removal to Spalding two years ago, a resident of Central City, Mr. Heaton having been engaged for a considerable portion of that time in the grocery business in the building now occupied by J. K. Kerr. She was a member of the Catholic church, and was an earnest worker in the activities of the church. Her maiden name was Elizabeth V. Gallagher. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Gallagher, and was born at Palmer, March 8th, 1880. She grew to young womanhood on the old home place near Palmer, where her parents had settled in the early days and where a brother and sister yet live. She was a fine young woman and as she grew older developed a character that attracted those with whom she came in contact by its sweetness and strength. To her and Mr. Heaton was born one son. The little one lived but a day or two, and to assuage their grief at its loss, they took into their home another little lad, now known as Raymond Heaton. She was a splendid wife and mother, and her death is an incalculable loss to the husband and to the twelve year old boy to whom she gave a mother's affection and care. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Michael's church, where in life the deceased had worshipped so often. They were conducted by Father Wm. O'Connor, who held Requiem High Mass. Many sorrowing friends filled the sacred edifice. Burial was made in the Central City cemetery. A sister of the deceased, Mrs. Davis of Chicago, arrived Sunday. The two daughters (sic) had been at Mrs. Heaton's bedside for some time prior to her death and were here for the funeral services. Another sister, Mrs. Davis of Chicago arrived Sunday. A niece, Mrs. Venenica Malloy, of Schuyler was present at the last rites, as were also Mrs. Heaton's brother John Gallagher and sister, Miss Anna Gallagher, both of Palmer. Two other sisters, one living in California and the other in Seattle, Washington, were unable to attend. - C. C. Republican.
