Elizabeth Wabnitz, wife of Charles Wabnitz, deceased, whose death occurred Aug. 27, 1899, died Saturday morning at about 2 oclock. Grandmother Wabnitz, who was known and loved by everyone she came in contact with, was sick for only a few days with that dread disease, pneumonia. She was considered serious from the first of her sickness. She suffered much, but yet bore her sufferings with Christian fortitude until the end. She was conscious of the fact that she could not survive and left many requests. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and grandmother, a good, industrious and honest woman and a faithful Christian. She was converted to God in Hamilton county, Ohio, in 1846, and had lived a zealous Christian to the end. She was a member of the German Evangelical church of Grandview. She was born in Rhein Bishofheim, Baden, Germany, April 7th [sic., 17th], 1822, and had she lived till April [1]7th, she would have attained the age of 78 years. She was united in marriage to Charle Wabnitz in 1845 [sic., 14 Apr 1844 at Rheinbischofheim]. One son, Charles F., of Letts, survives. A daughter, Elizabeth, wife of Bishop Dubs, died in Cleveland, Ohio, April 4th, 1882. She also leaves twelve grandchildren and a host of friends, who will mourn her demise. The funeral will be held at the Letts M. E. church Monday, March 26th at 2 p.m. Interment at Letts cemetery. --The Muscatine Journal (Muscatine, Iowa); Tuesday, 27 Mar 1900; pg. 6, col. 3
