Dawson, who for over forty years was a much beloved resident of Keosauqua, died at the home of her sister in Hemmingsford, Neb., Thursday, Nov. 12, and was brought to her old home here Monday, Nov. 16. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church, of which during her entire residence in Keosauqua, she was a faithful member. Interment was made at Oak Lawn cemetery. Mrs. Dawson was 86 years old. She was the mother of nine children, two having preceded her to the better land. The survivors are one daughter and six sons. The sons were present at the funeral and acted as pallbearers. Sat. 21 Nov. 1914 FORMER OLD SETTLER BURIED HERE. Mrs. Elizabeth Dawson, widow of N.R. Dawson, and a resident of Keosauqua from 1849 to 1888, died in Nebraska Nov. 12 and was buried here Monday. Mrs. Dawson died at the home of her sister at Hemingford, Neb., where she was visiting. Her death was caused by concussion of the brain resulting from an accident. Elizabeth Widner was born in Ohio, March 20, 1829, being 85 years, 7 months and 22 days old. Her parents came to Winchester this county, when she was a small child, and Sept. 12, 1849, she was united in marriage to Nelson R. Dawson and located at Keosauqua, where Mr. Dawson was engaged in the tailoring business, and who died here April 26, 1888. Six sons and one daughter survive Mrs. Dawson. They and their wives were all here except the daughter for the funeral. They are widely scattered over the country, as will be seen from the following: E.J. Dawson and wife and Ianthus and wife of Des Moines; Orin and wife and daughter, Jacksonville, Mo.; Reed, Osceola, Neb; F.B. and wife and daughter, Mason City, Ia.; Lester and wife, Lincoln, Neb. All the above were at the Manning Sunday and stated it was the first family reunion they had ever had. All are well-to-do and respected residents of the various places where they live. E.J. Dawson is secretary of the life insurance company of which Gov. Carroll is president. Mrs. Iona Wescott of Osceola, Neb., is the daughter. The funeral was held in the M.E. church Monday it being conducted by Rev. J.C. Behrens. The six sons were the pall bearers. The honorary pall bearers were Judge Sloan, Francis Johnson, R.H. Dalberg, Mark Whitney, Isaac Griffith, T.W. Haney. C.W. Dodds was the funeral director. Many of the oldest settlers attended the funeral. Mrs. Dawson was a devoted member of the M.E.
