Pastor Malcom McCallum of Spirit Lake, Idaho and Pastor Robert Shofner of Odessa officiated at the 2 p.m. services held at the Community Presbyterian Church in Wilbur, WA. Mrs. Reister had been a resident of the Wilbur community for the past 40 years. She had moved from her home in Wilbur to the Odessa Convalescent Center in August of 1980. She had been in failing health since she had fallen and broken her hip in April. Elizabeth W. Reister was born in St Louis, MO on Dec 30, 1896, the daughter of Wilhelm and Charlotte "Lottie" Bockhouse. She was married to Ora Leonard Reister in December of 1919, at Tacoma, WA. To this union five children were born. The family moved to Wilbur in 1940, from the Jerome area. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 6268, Wilbur; a former post mistress at Jerome, WA; and she worked for many years as a clerk of the Foley Variety Store (now Davis Variety) in Wilbur. She was also an active member of the Wilbur Senior Citizens. Survivors include two sons, Howard W. Reister of Odessa, and Raymond C. Reister of Wilbur; three daughters, Mildred Wagner of Sunnyside; Edith Roloff of Quincy; and Irene Kennedy of Wilbur; two sisters, Minnie Sphyler of Colville, WA and Frieda McDonald of Kettle Falls, WA; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband, O. L. Reister in 1963; three brothers; one sister; one grandson, Randy Kennedy, and one granddaughter, Carolyn Angstrom. Providing special music for the services were Faith McCallum on the organ and Jan Goodman and Geraldine Gollehon, who sang ‘In The Garden' and ‘Amazing Grace.' Geraldine is a great granddaughter of Mrs. Reister. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Doug Kennedy, Bruce Moeller, Ray Roloff, Ron Cato, Larry Roloff, Jim Deahl, Gerald Gollehon and Gerald Gollehon, Jr. Interment was in the Wilbur Cemetery with the Robertson Funeral Home of Wilbur in charge of arrangements.
