ELIZABETH BORGER From the Melcher Union we take the following mention of the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Borger, who has visited in Chariton a number of time with her son, Fred Borger, also with another son, John Borger, now of Des Moines, but formerly of this place. Elizabeth Wolfe Borger died at the home of her daughter in Boone, Iowa, March 3, 1928, at the age of 73 years. Mrs. Borger was born in Germany and came to this country when 18 years old. She was united in marriage to Peter Borger, and Marion county was their home for a number of years. Her husband was killed a few years ago by a fall of slate in a mine north of Dallas where he was working. Into this family were born seven children, two of whom preceded her in death. Those surviving are Mrs. Liza Allee, of Searsboro, Ia.; Mrs. Dena Morgan, of Boone; John Borger, of Des Moines; Mrs. Katie Hackney, of Boone; and Fred Borger, of Chariton. Besides the children Mrs. Borger leaves 8 grandchildren to mourn her death. Mrs. Borger had been seriously ill for several month at the home of her daughter, who so tenderly cared for her through her illness. She bore her suffering patiently and with fortitude. Mrs. Borger had been a member of the Christian church at Dallas for 35 years. Funeral services were held at Dallas, Monday afternoon, Rev. Milton Dawson officiating. Interment was in the Dallas cemetery.
