Her maiden name was Wood and she was born in Virgina, but while yet a child her parents removed to Ohio. Here at the age 21 she was married to Joshua Reed (sic--Reeve), who was killed two years later by a falling tree. Of her later marriage with William Jemison were born four daughters, all of whom survived their mother, viz Mrs. Life at whose home she died. Mr. Lewis and Mrs. McNew who lived in Marshall county, and Mrs. Muchmore who is a widow living in Nebraska. All were present at her death except last. Mr. and Mrs. Jamison came to Marshall county in 1857, in the troublesome times of Kansas. They settled over on the Vermillion and there established and built a home where they lived and were well and favorably known until 1876, when Mrs. Jemison died. Mrs Jemison has been on the frontier of civilization during all of her long life and well knew what hardship and privation mean. She was known far and near as a kind hearted neighbor and friend. Since her husband's death she has made her home with her children, the last few years being spent with her daughter, Mrs. Martin Life. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church on Wednesday afternoon and were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Hibbord assisted by Rev. Crooks. The burial was in the Life cemetery, southwest of town, Whither a large company attended the remains.
