Description	:	Daughter of Samuel D. Nutter and Ruth M. Knowles; wife of Charles Roberts and Charles W. Leighton. Ella had two sisters - Hannah D. and Betsey M., and three brothers - Daniel P., George H., and Willie. Ella first married Charles Roberts November 30, 1877 in Pittsfield, New Hampshire. He was 22 years old and she was 18 years old. The marriage ceremony was performed by F.E. Davison. Charles Roberts died May 6, 1897 from what was then known as consumption, which we now know as tuberculosis. Ella then married Charles W. Leighton, who was a local police officer and widower. Ella's occupation was a "shoe stitcher". He was 62 years old and she was 44 years old. They married April 11, 1903 in Pittsfield. They were married by Clergyman Ephriam W. Ricker. According to the New Hampshire Death and Disinterment Records 1754-1947, Ella died from bronchial pneumonia (onset 8 days)and a contributing factor was a "fatty degeneration of the heart." Burial took place on December 27th, 1926. The undertaker was J.W. Steward of Northwood, New Hampshire. She was a widow at the time of her death.
