Mayer, a former resident of Chapin, who passed away October 20th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. E. Fromm, in Pennington, New Jersey, were held Thursday, October 25th, at the Congregational church, in Chapin. Rev. Mayer, a former resident of Chapin, who passed away October 20th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. E. Fromm, in Pennington, New Jersey, were held Thursday, October 25th, at the Congregational church, in Chapin. Rev. Mayer, daughter of Jonathan and Mary Dylan Brenton, was born July 14, 1865, at Washington, Iowa, where she spent her young womanhood. On February 20, 1887 she was United in marriage to George Adolph Mayer, also of Washington, Iowa, who proceeded her in death on December 15, 1941. They established their home on a farm 3 mi south of Chapin, where they resided until 1889, when they moved to a farm 1/4 Mile West of Chapin and later in October 1928 they moved to Chapin. On February 20, 1937 many friends and relatives gathered here at the Congregational church, where their marriage ceremony was repeated and their golden wedding celebrated. She was always interested in activities of the church and community serving many years as president of the ladies aid society and the Wayside and Old Chapin cemetery associations, she was the last one of a family of seven children. She leaves to mourn her death three children, Randolph Mayer, of Washington, D.C., Everett K. Mayer, of Chapin, Iowa, and Mrs. Vera Fromm, of Pennington, New Jersey, and two grandchildren, Donna Vee Fromm and Daryl D. Mayer, besides a host of relatives and friends. November, 1945
