She was born October 8, 1927, in Bay County, Michigan, to Martin and Sabine (Boehm) Schwab, one of nine children. She was born October 8, 1927, in Bay County, Michigan, to Martin and Sabine (Boehm) Schwab, one of nine children. Surviving are her sister, Loretta Rozewski of Essexville; brother, Roy of Bay City; sister-in-law Clara (Armstrong) and Melvin McCray of Big Rapids; nieces Leona Maxson or Silverwood, MI, Elaine Piorier of Pigeon, MI, Katherine (Gordy) Daniels of Reese, MI, Sandy Schwab of Oregon; nephews Howard Schwab (Leann) of North Dakota, Michael Schwab of Bay City, MI, Bill (Jan) Zerby of Bay City, MI and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Edwin (Ella), Rupert (Clare) and Otto; sisters Hilda (Bill) Summerfield, Arlene (Wm "Spike") Zerby and Dorothy Schwab; nephew, Norman (Ritsuko); niece, Satoko Schwab. Ella was a graduate of the Cadet Nursing School of Saginaw General Hospital and was still active in the Alumni Association. She worked at the hospital for a few years before joining Dr. A. Gamon's practice as an office nurse. She later was employed by the Social Security Administration in the Division of Disability Determination. She joined St. Matthews Lutheran Church of Holt and was active there in many ways, especially in Personal Evangelism and Evangelistic Missions to foreign countries. The family wishes to thank the staff at McLaren and Burcham Hill for their caring and attentive services; especially to Dr. Michelina, her physician, who was especially solicitous with her services. We shall be forever grateful to church members, especially Pastor Poellot, Jan, Pam, Mike, Linda and others we may have forgotten. We also want to thank near and far neighbors for their many helping and caring acts of charity, especially Jean, Bill and Bev, and others we may have forgotten. Funeral Services will be held, Tuesday, January 8, 2013, 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor Dean Poellet officiating. Internment will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Frankenlust Twp in Bay County near the I-75 & M-84 intersection, in the family plot, Conducted by Pastor Paul D. Theis. The family will receive relatives and friends, Monday, January 7, 2013, from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Holt Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Matthew Lutheran Church, McLaren Hospital, Burcham Hills Retirement Community or their favorite charity in memory of Ella.
