Description	:	Ella Elaine Lechtenberg was born January 30, 1922, the daughter of Frederick and Ella Fredrichsen Stewart. She died August 12, 2009, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven. Elaine was born in Gray, Iowa. She received her education in rural school in Audubon, Iowa, and graduated from Audubon High School with the class of 1940. After a year of college, she taught school from 1941-1968. Read More	Ella Elaine Lechtenberg was born January 30, 1922, the daughter of Frederick and Ella Fredrichsen Stewart. She died August 12, 2009, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of eighty-seven. Elaine was born in Gray, Iowa. She received her education in rural school in Audubon, Iowa, and graduated from Audubon High School with the class of 1940. After a year of college, she taught school from 1941-1968. On August 24, 1942, Elaine was united in marriage to Alois Eugene Lechtenberg. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children. Following her husband's Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1945, they made their home in Templeton, Iowa. In 1968, they moved to Vinton, Iowa, where she worked at Lane's Jewelry Store from 1968-1971. In 1971 they moved to Denison where Elaine worked at Roscoe's Jewelry Store from 1971-2001. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her family very much, especially her grandchildren. She found great joy in socializing with her neighbors and insuring that all is well with the neighborhood. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and keeping her house neat and tidy. Elaine was blessed to be able to live in her own home until just recently. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison. Elaine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Alois; one great-grandchild, Logan; one sister, Frances and her husband Frank; two brothers-in-law: Floyd and Frank. Survivors include two sons: Robert and his wife Beverly; and Ronald and his wife Patty; five grandchildren: Mark, Wade, Lucas, Austin and Emily; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Lois and Claudia; two brothers: Stresley and his wife Doris; and Franklin and his wife Mary; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 17, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Tim Friedrichsen served as Celebrant of the Mass. Fr. Wayne Gubbels officiated the graveside rites with interment at Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa. Organist Jean Cornelius provided accompaniment for the St. Rose of Lima Choir. Serving as Lector was Velma Pedersen, as Eucharistic Minister was Joan Gray, and as Altar Servers were Casey Eiten and Moriah Bohlmann. Honorary pallbearers were David Prebeck, Steven Stewart, Randy Prebeck and Jim Kisgen. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Stewart, Dale Prebeck, Pat Knueven, Eugene Prebeck, Lyle Marquardt and Bill Prebeck. Sunday services included a Legion of Mary Rosary at 4:30 p.m., and a Vigil Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. The family invited everyone to the Parish Center following the Mass for fellowship and lunch served by the Altar Guild. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
