Green, who has been in feeble health for months and several weeks ago went to Freeport, Illinois to visit relatives and receive medical treatment, succumbed to the final summons in St. Francis hospital in that city Monday, November 30, (1914 added by Edna Nelson). Her body arrived here yesterday morning on the Great Western passenger. The death of this esteemed lady marked the passing of a life filled with good deeds. Her retiring nature led her to hide her best qualities from public gaze, but they were revealed to those who are left to mourn her loss. She was a true friend and her devotion to the members of her household would make a bright chapter in any life. Mrs. Green's maiden name was Lynda Ella Broughton and she was born near Magnolia, Wis, April 10, 1863. In 1888 she came to Hampton and was married to Richard C. Green on February 12, 1890. They moved to Pipeston e, MN in 1892, and from there went to Lake Preston, SD, where they resided for 5 years and then moved to Bird Island, MN, returning to Hampton about three years ago. Besides the grief stricken husband and two little daughters Mrs. Green is survived by two sisters and two brothers. These are Mrs. M.H. Casford, of Beloit, WI; Elsie L. Broughton, of Forreston, IL; Emery E. Broughton, Freeport, IL; and R.J. Broughton, of Beloit, WI. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Dewitt Clinton, will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the at the C.B. Green home on Fifth Street. Interment will be made in the Hampton cemetery.
