Description	:	Ella Ida, wife of John Evans, died at her home 9 miles southwest of Laurens in Marshall township, Pocahontas county, Iowa on March 29, 1904 at 9:30 a. m., of tuberculosis, at the age of 26 years, 11 months and 29 days. She was the daughter of Eli and Hannah Coates of Buena Vista county and was born in Iowa county, March 31, 1877. She was married to John Evans on February 22, 1899. To this happy union two children were born, Joseph Laverne aged 4 years and Earl Erwin aged 2 years. She leaves to mourn her loss... Read More	Ella Ida, wife of John Evans, died at her home 9 miles southwest of Laurens in Marshall township, Pocahontas county, Iowa on March 29, 1904 at 9:30 a. m., of tuberculosis, at the age of 26 years, 11 months and 29 days. She was the daughter of Eli and Hannah Coates of Buena Vista county and was born in Iowa county, March 31, 1877. She was married to John Evans on February 22, 1899. To this happy union two children were born, Joseph Laverne aged 4 years and Earl Erwin aged 2 years. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, two children, parents, seven brothers, four sisters and a host of dear friends. Mrs. Evans had been in poor health for several months. All that a loving husband could do was done; relatives and friends ministered in much love to the dear one, but all in vain. After eight weeks of patient suffering she passed from this life, beyond pain, suffering and death. Ella was a loving wife, a most tender and affectionate mother, a kind and obedient daughter and a faithful friend. Those who knew her best loved her most. The funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Elder J. C. Hanna of the Christian church of Laurens, on Thursday, March 31, her twenty-seventh birthday, at 11 a. m. A large company of relatives and friends were gathered to show their love and sympathy. After brief services the remains were interred in the Laurens cemetery. (Pocahontas County Sun, Apr. 7, 1904)
