Description	:	Ella Jeanne Shumaker, 85, of Ottumwa died at 4:10 p.m. Sept.15, 2015 at Vista Woods Care Center. She was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Fairfield, to Clarence F. and Marguerite Zeigler Gorman. She married Robert E. Shumaker June 29, 1952 in Fairfield. He preceded her in death April 29, 1997. Ellie graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947 and from Parsons College in 1951. She taught at Corning High School, worked at Union Bank and Trust Company and was the Registrar at Ottumwa High School for 17 years, retiring in 1992. She was born Nov. 11, 1929 in Fairfield, to Clarence F. and Marguerite Zeigler Gorman. She married Robert E. Shumaker June 29, 1952 in Fairfield. He preceded her in death April 29, 1997. Ellie graduated from Fairfield High School in 1947 and from Parsons College in 1951. She taught at Corning High School, worked at Union Bank and Trust Company and was the Registrar at Ottumwa High School for 17 years, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Chapter G PEO and a charter member of Moss Heaven Chapter of P. Buckley Moss Society. She was also active in the Ecumenical Lord’s Cupboard. Surviving are two sons, James (Clara Lu) Shumaker of Johnston and Brian (Jeanne) Shumaker of Newton; three grandchildren, Cynthia (Brandon) Rohlfsen of Bondurant, Cpt. Robert (Carly) Shumaker of Monterey, CA and Jason (Rachel) Shumaker of Marion; six great grandchildren, Rylan, Adelyn, Hayden, Zadie, Millie and Evie. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Stephen; a sister, Florence McGiffin; three brothers, John C. Gorman, Elmer Paul Gorman and Donald B. Gorman. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Shrimplin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
