Description	:	Funeral services for Ella Von Seggern, 88, were held Monday, April 23 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in rural Orchard. Rev. Philip Heuser officiated the 1:30 p.m. service with interment in the Orchard Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ella Johanna Wobken Von Seggern was born December 28, 1912 at Scribner, to Helena Maria Sophie Oldigs and John Frederick Wobken. She was baptized March 2, 1913 and confirmed March 29, 1927 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Scribner. She attended rural schools in Dodge County. Ella Johanna Wobken Von Seggern was born December 28, 1912 at Scribner, to Helena Maria Sophie Oldigs and John Frederick Wobken. She was baptized March 2, 1913 and confirmed March 29, 1927 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Scribner. She attended rural schools in Dodge County. She was married to Arthur Gerhard Henry Von Seggern October 9, 1935 at Scribner. Five children were born to them, Joanne Helen, Dennis Dean, Burnell Arthur, Betty Jean and Dale Lee. Ella and Art farmed in the rural Scribner area the first years of their marriage. They moved to Orchard in 1941, where they lived south of the Venus Store. The Von Seggerns bought the Venus Store in 1952 and moved to live in the store at that time. Ella served as the postmaster of the Venus Post Office from 1952 to 1959. They owned and operated the Venus Store together until Art's death in 1978. Ella continued until 1980, when she sold the business and moved to Orchard, where she resided until her death. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, rural Orchard from 1941 until the time of her death. She was also a member of the Scrabble Club, the Anniversary Club, St. Paul's Ladies Aid and LWML. She enjoyed participating in Senior Citizen activities around Orchard. Ella suffered a stroke Monday, April 16, 2001 and was hospitalized until her death Thursday, April 19, 2001 at Lundberg Memorial Hospital, Creighton. She is survived by her children; two sisters, Marie Weitzenkamp of Lyons, Mabel Wobken of West Point and two sisters-in-law, Elva Weitzenkamp of Beemer and Dorothy Clausen of Fremont; twenty one grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, her parents, six brothers, George, Henry, Herman, Walter, Elmer and Irvin; one daughter-in-law, Irene Von Seggern. ...The Creighton News 25 April 2001
