Description	:	Ella Josephine Guthrie,85, of rural Ryan, died Tuesday, March 8, 1994, in her son's Marion home after a sudden illness. Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Peace Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Donald Dovre. Burial: church cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at Bohnenkamp-Theulen Funeral Home, Manchester. Survivors include four children, daughter Janice Stein of Overland Park, Kan., son Dean of Avondale, Mo., daughter Elaine O'Brien of Austin, Minn., and son James of Marion; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Charlson of Minneapolis and Mildred (Mrs. Duane) Hanson of Forest City; and a brother, Wilfred Charlson of Charleston, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister Rachel Bird; and five brothers, Chester, Milton, Jens Melvin, Harold and Reuben. Born Aug. 16, 1908, on a farm near Leland, a daughter of Jens and Mattie Twito Charlson, she graduated from Leland High School and married Clarence Harold Guthrie in October 1943. He died Aug. 1, 1979. They had lived in rural Ryan since 1943. Ella was a farm wife and a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the church's ladies group and Neighborhood Golden Circle Club. She had resided at her son's home in Marion since October 1993, when she broke her hip. She will be missed by her family and friends. ..Published: March 10, 1994 Cedar Rapids Iowa Gazette.
