Memorials are requested to Grace Lutheran Church in Norfolk or Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek. --- Ella was born July 25, 1916, in Humphrey, the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Dittberner) Nathan. She was baptized in the Lutheran Faith Aug. 20, 1916, and confirmed May 25, 1930, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Lindsay. After her education, she married Herbert Hofmann on Feb. 21, 1937, at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Lindsay. They resided in Battle Creek where they were long-time members of St. John’s Lutheran. Herbert passed away Feb. 19, 1962. To this union three children were born: Gary L. Hofmann, deceased (and wife Harriet) of Los Angeles, Calif., Jim Hofmann (and wife Nancy) of Escondido, Calif., and Sandy Moeller (and husband Lynn) of Tulsa, Okla.; along with eight grandchildren, Krista Finnegan (Michael), Jason Hofmann (Angie), Jeff Moeller (Tammy), Michelle Hofmann, Suzanne Bonilla (Ben), Christopher Hofmann (Sara), Julie Risso (Marcus) and Erin Hofmann; 11 great-grandchildren, Taylor Utecht, Heather and Ryan Finnegan, Ben, Megan and Kate Moeller, Olivia Hofmann, Luke and Henry Hofmann, Vincent and Jillian Risso. In 1965, Ella moved to Norfolk and was employed by DeLay National Bank. She married Dallas Timperley on Sept. 24, 1967, at Grace Lutheran in Norfolk where she was a member for 47 years. Dallas and Ella enjoyed fishing and gardening on the farm. Ella was a devout Hospital Guild member and volunteer at the hospital for over 30 years. Dallas preceded her in death on Sept. 3, 1988. She was a 19-year resident of The Meadows in Norfolk, where she enjoyed being the resident seamstress for many years, baking and bowling. She was a current resident of Battle Creek Community Pride. She was preceded in death by son, Gary Hofmann in 1996; husbands Herbert Hofmann and Dallas Timperley; her parents; eight brothers; and two sisters.
