Born April 1,1920, in Quantico she was the daughter of the late Rev. H.Dale and Minne Taylor Owens. She was married for 53 years to Walter Edward Haddock Sr. before his death in 1986. She retired from F.W. Born April 1,1920, in Quantico she was the daughter of the late Rev. H.Dale and Minne Taylor Owens. She was married for 53 years to Walter Edward Haddock Sr. before his death in 1986. She retired from F.W. Woolworth in Salisbury, with 49 years of service and continued to stay active by baby sitting for family members, cooking delicious meals for friends and family, Participating in the Club activities at Sunny Meadows Independent Living in Hebron, where she was raised. She loved Southern Gospel music especially that of Bill Gaither and Friends. Going to hymn sings at local churches was one of her favorite hobbies. Miss Ella, or Mom Mom as many knew her, taught Sunday School at her father's church, where she also filled many positions: youth leader, secretary, treasurer are just a few. She and her husband started one of the first bus ministries on the Delmarva Peninsula. She was very knowledgeable of the Bible and had read through many times. She was an avid reader of Amish novels and anything else she could get her hands on. Doing word-search books helped pass the time and kept her mind sharp. She enjoyed having visits from her family, friends and neighbors, and especially her K-9 friends, Taz, Ivy, and Ruby. Preceding her in death in addition to her parents and husband were her daughter, Charlotte Ann Colona of Mardela Springs; a son-in-law, Norris Donaho; two brothers, Robert Owens of Quantico and Harry Owens of Salisbury; two sisters, Lilly Smith and Edna Conti of Salisbury; also a grandson, Lester Ray Collins of Salisbury. Miss Ella leaves behind three daughters, Shirley Donoho of Mardela Springs, Dorothy Lynch (Joseph) of Hebron, Jean Glover (Don) of Mardela Springs, and Charles Haddock (Jan) of Laurel, Del. She has 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and 29 great-greatgrandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends and her very dear friends at Sonny Meadows, whom she dearly loved. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Mardela Springs Vol. Fire Co with visitation one hour before the service. Interment will be held in Mardela Springs cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Messick Funeral Home on Nanticoke Rd., in Bivalve.
