Description	:	Ella M. Hare, aged 102 years, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2006 at Anthony Community Care Center, Anthony, Kansas. She was born February 25, 1904 at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Wallace and Rosa (Hohnroth) Moyer. She attended school in Freeport, Kansas and business school in Wichita, Kansas. In her early years, she worked as a telephone operator in Freeport and later as a substitute rural mail carrier. She married Clarence E. Hare on October 16, 1924 in Anthony, Kansas. They were married for sixty-eight years and spent their entire lives together, living and working on the same farm... Read More	Ella M. She was born February 25, 1904 at Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Wallace and Rosa (Hohnroth) Moyer. She attended school in Freeport, Kansas and business school in Wichita, Kansas. In her early years, she worked as a telephone operator in Freeport and later as a substitute rural mail carrier. She married Clarence E. Hare on October 16, 1924 in Anthony, Kansas. They were married for sixty-eight years and spent their entire lives together, living and working on the same farm that his parents homesteaded in 1885. Ella loved spending time with family and friends. She kept a huge vegetable garden and loved traveling, word puzzles and watching for cardinals. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were spoiled by her homemade strawberry shortcake and the world’s best canned pickles. In her later years, at the Anthony Community Care Center, she was especially fond of the center’s pet cockatiel. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clarence; a son, Donald; a grandson, Terry Hare; and a sister, Josephine (Moyer) Greve. She is survived by her son, Keith Hare of Freeport; two daughters, Phyllis Standrich of Derby and Betty Baker and husband, Robert of Bluff City; daughter-in-law, Karen Hare of Anthony; her grandchildren: David and Lynn Standrich of Mulvane, Daryl and Tresa Standrich of Derby, Brian Hare of Kansas City, MO; and Kay White of Valley Center; step granddaughter, Kristine Learned of Overland Park; six great-grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home, Williams Chapel, Anthony, Kansas. Burial will be at Freeport Cemetery, Freeport, Kansas. Memorials may be given to Freeport Presbyterian Church or Anthony Community Care Center and may be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 East Main St. ~ Anthony, Kansas 67003.
