Funeral services will be held at 1:30 at the home and at 2:30 in the Methodist church in Hawarden this afternoon, with Rev. Robert f. Chapler, the pastor, in charge. Interment will be in Grace Hill cemetery. Ella Mabel Summers was born at Cascade, Iowa, October 19, 1878, and passed away in Sioux City March 18, 1940 at the age of 61 years and 5 months. She came to Sioux county with her parents at the age of 4 years and grew to young womanhood in this community. She was united in marriage to Warren H. Earl in Sioux City on December 5, 1905, and ever since her marriage has lived on the Earl farm in Washington township, 5 1/2 miles southwest of Ireton, with the exception of one year which they spent in Hawarden. Three children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Earl but one son died in infancy. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Vernon Earl, at home, and one daughter, Mrs. Gwendolyn Lang of Evansville, Minn. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Fred Earll of Hawarden and Mrs. Clara Hansen of Los Angeles, Calif., and one brother, Raymond A. Summers of Sulphur, S.D., besides a host of friends and other relatives. Mrs. Earl lived a busy life and one that brought happiness and cheer to many. She was always active and interested in the affairs of her community, state and nation. For years she has served as vice chairman of the Sioux county democratic central committee and took an active part in affairs of a political nature. She was interested in and gave whole-hearted support to club work in which the betterment of agriculture and the farmer were uppermost. But her friends will remember her longest for the cheer and good will which she was ever ready to spread. Her death came as a distinct shock to her helpmate for nearly thirty-five years and to the children who have been privileged to grow to maturity under a mother's guidance, as well as to her hundreds of friends and neighbors in this community.
