Col. 1 Funeral will be at Batavia for Mrs. Ella Brown BATAVIA, IA.--Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Ella May Brown, long-time resident of Batavia community who passed away Monday in the Ottumwa hospital following a short illness. The services will be held in the Batavia Christian church and burial will be in the Batavia cemetery. Mrs. Ella May Brown, 86, was born Sept. 15, 1872, near Jonesboro, Ark. She was united in marriage to Andrew B Brown in Jonesboro, after which the couple moved to Iowa. They arrived in Batavia in 1903 and she has been a resident of the Batavia community since that time with the exception of 10 years spent in the Agency community. She is survived by eight children: William L. Brown, Milton, Iowa; Mrs. Pearl Holder, Stanwood, Iowa; Mrs. Jessie Pruce, Agency; Claude W. Brown, Agency; Ralph C. Brown, Girard, Kansas; Richard M. Brown, Marshalltown; and Mrs. Mildred Horridge, Otumwa. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died in 1937, and one daughter. She was a member of the Batavia Christian church and of the Arbor Vitae Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 327 from which she received her 50 year membership pin.
