They were divorced before the 1940 census as she appears in the 1940 census living at Osage, Mitchell, Iowa with her mother, Maria Auringer. She is using the surname Shelby in 1940 but as her obit says, she changed her name back to Auringer at some point. I found Olaf G Shelby has a Find a Grave memorial # 86019185.
