Plisek officiating. Ella Novacek Muntz was born May 9, 1920 in David City to Mary and Charles Novacek. She graduated in 1939 from David City High School and then attended St. Paul Business College, attaining skills to become a secretary. She worked for Pentzien Engineering Company in Omaha, North American Aviation in Los Angeles, Calif., and for Colonel Danshy in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. She married Carl L. Muntz, Jr. on August 3, 1943 and they had three children: Donald - Cedar Creek; Patricia - Fort Calhoun; and Gary – Omaha. Family was #l for Ella and she made a house a home. After raising their family, Ella worked at Brandeis nearly 20 years as a clerk in Notions and Housewares. She was active in First United Methodist Churches and was a member of the Ladies Circle. She was a lifetime member of Benson VFW Auxiliary #2503 doing volunteer work. Through the years, she was involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, a member of Uta Halley Home for Girls and ushered at the Omaha Community Playhouse and Orpheum Theater for over 25 years. Ella was often a Bible School teacher as well as Sunday School teacher and worked in the Nursery caring for children as well as working in the First Methodist Church kitchen on many dinners. She was also President of her UMW Circle several times. She enjoyed sewing and tailoring and picked this up from her father, who was a tailor at Novacek Cleaners in David City. She also loved music, especially polkas and watching Lawrence Welk on TV. Ella appreciated good food and liked "The Bohemian Cafe" with kolaches and desserts. Through the years she made people happy by doing nice things for others like meals on wheels, and was always thoughtful and caring toward everyone. Ella had a good sense of humor and was a "people person." She touched the lives of many and will be missed. She is survived by three children, six grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
