Description	:	Ellen Alta Nash was born in Long Island, Phillips, Kansas to George Henry and Arabella [McClaughry] Nash. She was the only child that her father named. Late in life and after Belle's children were grown, and the death of her first husband. Belle married for the second time to, George Tubbs, in Long Island and together they found renewed happiness in their retired years. Miss Ellen Nash was wedded to, James Henry Crossley, in Phillips County, Kansas on 28 Dec 1902. Her parents are both interred in the Long Island town cemetery of Phillips County, Kansas. Miss Ellen Nash was wedded to, James Henry Crossley, in Phillips County, Kansas on 28 Dec 1902. Her parents are both interred in the Long Island town cemetery of Phillips County, Kansas. Ellen and her husband moved from Phillips County, Kansas together with her husband's parents to settle in the railroad and farming town of Burlington, Skagit, Washington. The town is about 30 miles south of the British Columbia, Canadian border. A sister of hers, Zoe [Nash] Fitzgarrald lived with her husband about six miles east of Burlington near the town of Sedro-Woolley. Zoe's husband, Dean, worked as a Boiler Engineer for the Northern State Hospital, in Sedro-Woolley. It housed the mentally ill patients from that part of the state until it's closing in 1973. Ellen, died at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 5 days. Her death certificate reveals that for eleven years she had uncontrolled high blood pressure of about 280. The cause was never found by her doctor. Further, the doctor reports that she worked hard in business and in her community relief work. At death, Ellen was the City Treasure for the town of Burlington. She was well liked and loved by the community.
