Ellen Dorothea Jensine (Hansen) Kelley was Born July 7, 1905 at White Lake, south Dakota to Hans Peter and Ane Katrine (Jorgensen Hansen. Shen grew up on a farm south of White Lake in Aurora County. She received her elementary education in the country school not farm from the family farm and attended white Lake High School graduating in 1923. After graduation, she attended Dakota Wesleyan and Northern State Normal, receiving her teaching certificate. The following three years Ellen taught school in Crystal Lake Township near the family farm in Aurora Country. She then applied for a teaching position in Brunson Township in Tripp County and taught there for one year. The next three years were spent teaching intermediate grades at the Ideal school then one year teaching at Witten. She later taught one year again at Brunson Township after she was married. On June 6, 1931, she married Floyd Kelly. They lived on a farm near Ideal. No children were born to this union. They raised the son of her sister Louise form infancy. When the grasshoppers and dust storms came she again taught in the Brunson Township School to supplement the family income. During those bad times they moved into Winner and she worked at the Outlaw Store both Par-time and full-time. Later she owned and operated the Tiny Tot Shop in Winner. After selling the business she remained a homemaker and had a large yard and garden. Following Floyds death in 1994, she moved to the Golden Prairie Manor where she reside for several year. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,three sisters, Louise, Betty and Irene and brother Holger
