Read More	The Macomb Journal, page 5 Thursday, March 9,1882 WESTFALL.--At her residence in Scotland township, one mile south of Macomb, Illinois, Tuesday, March 7th, 1882, at 2 o'clock, a. m., Mrs. Ellen E. Westfall, wife of Dr. B. R. Westfall, aged 50 years, 2 months, and 4 days. Deceased was born in Columbia county, Kentucky, in 1832; her maiden name was Hays, she was the daughter of Dr. Charles R. Hays, deceased, long and well known in this county. With her parents she came to this city when two years old. In this town she received her education, grew to womanhood, and where she was married in the year 1847 to Dr. Beverly R. Westfall, who survives her. She has resided in this place and on their farm a mile south of town until her death. The fruits of her marriage area fifteen children, nine sons and six daughters; of this number thirteen are now living. A mother of such a family, it can well be imagined that hers has been a busy life,--a life of toil, of anxious care and solicitude. Her disease was consumption, which first made its appearance some five years ago. For two months she has been confined to her home and bed, until death ended all her suffering, ended all care, all anxiety. Funeral services took place at her late residence, yesterday, Rev. S. T. Davis, pastor of the Presbyterian church, of which she was a faithful member during life, conducting the ceremonies. After services, her worn frame was taken to Oakwood cemetery, and the faithful wife and mother was laid tenderly to rest-all peaceful, all quiet. "Daily the tides of life go ebbing and flowing beside her, Thousands of throbbing hearts where hers is at rest and forever, Thousands of aching brains where hers no longer is busy, Thousands of toiling hands where hers have ceased from their labor, Thousands of weary feet where hers have completed the journey."∼Notes for her father suggest Ellen was born in Columbia, Adair County, Kentucky.
