She was born December 12, 1928, in rural Leonard, the daughter of Otis "O.W" Worthy and Bernice Ellen (Perry) Mahoney. She married George Leon Runyon on April 24, 1948, in Shelbina. She was born December 12, 1928, in rural Leonard, the daughter of Otis "O.W" Worthy and Bernice Ellen (Perry) Mahoney. She married George Leon Runyon on April 24, 1948, in Shelbina. Survivors are her husband, Leon, of the home; two sons, David Runyon and wife, Kristy, of Lebanon, Brandon Runyon of Leonard; one daughter, Georgia Jones and husband, Dehner, of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Leslie Marshall and husband, John, Jessica Woods, Damon Jones and wife, Patty, B.J. Jones and wife, Lara, Jonathan Jones and wife, Laura; five great-grandchildren, Jacob Woods, Conner Woods, Noah Marshall, Anna Jones, Austin Jones, Emme Jones; one brother, Ed Mahoney and wife, Gertrude, of Leonard; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Runyon was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Mary Jo Keith and Laura Jean Rainey. She taught at Fairview Country School. She loved quilting, traveling, helping on the farm, and spending time with family. She was a member of the Leonard Christian Church. Visitation was Friday, September 24, 2010, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Hutton and McElwain Funeral Home in Macon and Saturday, September 25, 2010, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. before the funeral services at the Leonard Christian Church. Dr. Albin Covington officiated. Burial was in the Peoples Family Cemetery, southeast of Leonard. Memorials were suggested to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the National Kidney Foundation.
