Read More	The Dannebrog News, September 8, 1932, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Last Rites For Mrs. Christensen - Services Held Thursday; Remains Laid to Rest in Oak Ridge Cemetery - Mrs. Ellen Christensen, daughter of Anders and Barbara Enevoldsen, was born at Hover, near Aarhus, Denmark, December 23, 1858. She was baptized in the Lutheran faith in infancy. In 1872 she immigrated to America with her parents, coming to Wisconsin. After a few months there they joined the Danish colony which came to Dannebrog, here they settled on a farm about one-half mile northwest of town and here Ellen grew to womanhood among the early pioneers of this community. On December 20, 1877 she was united in marriage to Laurs Christensen, and to this union nine children were born, four sons and five daughters. They made their home on their farm five miles west of Dannebrog until 1909 when they moved to town. Mr. and Mrs. Christensen celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1927. Mrs. Christensen's husband and two daughters have preceded her in death. Her husband passed away February 19, 1931, a daughter Mary, died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Hans N. Hatt, died in 1907, leaving two children, Rose and Alton, who made their home with their grandparents for ten years. Mrs. Christensen had been failing in health the past three or four years, and during the past few months had made her home among her children. She passed away on August 29, 1932, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. P. Jacobsen, after a severe illness which lasted several weeks. She had attained the age of 73 years, 8 months, 6 days. She leaves to mourn her departure her children, Mrs. Laurine Hansen of Osceola; Carl Christensen and Mrs. Elnora Armstrong of St. Paul, Chris Christensen, Martin Christensen, Arthur Christensen and Mrs. Louise Jacobsen of Dannebrog; also sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a brother, Anton Enevoldsen of Dannebrog, besides a host of friends. She was a member of the Danish Sisterhood. Mrs. Christensen was greatly devoted to her children, and was always caring for their welfare. She will be greatly missed by them, and in appreciation of her devotion they tried to do everything to relieve and ease her suffering during her illness.
