She grew to womanhood in Ohio and was married to Mr. Eli Decker on March 23, 1862 and they have lived together as companions for over 57 years. Read More	Grand Island (Nebraska) Daily Independent Friday, 18 July 1919 OBITURARY Ellen Jane McClurg Decker was born January 22, 1838 in Gurnzy county, O., and died July 14, 1919, at the age of 81 years, five months and twenty two days. She grew to womanhood in Ohio and was married to Mr. Eli Decker on March 23, 1862 and they have lived together as companions for over 57 years. Their home was blessed with one child, Mrs. Ida Sherich, who for sometime has made here home with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Decker resided in Ohio until 1878 when they made a short trip to Michigan and then proceeded to Nebraska. They arrived here in 1879 and purchased land near Phillips where they made home for 25 years, moving to Grand Island 15 years ago at 308 West 9th street. Mrs. Decker became a Christian in early life and united with the Baptist church in Hardin county, O., in 1875, and at the time of her death was a member of the First Baptist church of Grand Island. She lived a faithful, consistent Christian life and was greatly loved by all who knew here. On account of increasing age and its attendant weakness she had been scarcely able to leave the home for the past years but she was interested in the church and Christian things. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband, Mr. Eli Decker, one daughter, Mrs. Ida Sherich, on brother, residing in Ohio, and one sister, who resides in Indiana. Funeral services were held form the home on Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock being conducted by Rev. E. H. Jackson, of the First Baptist church. Her favorite song, "Lord, I am Coming Home" was sung as a solo by Mrs. O. N. Sheely. Interment took place in the Phillips cemetery.
