Read More	Ellen Jane Juhler Aug 11 1936 - Nov 06 2009 Ellen Jane Juhler, age 73, died Friday, November 6 at Waterford at All Saints after a long battle with cancer. Ellen Jane Juhler was born on August 11, 1936 in Seattle, WA, daughter of Michael and Alice (Mc Gourty) O'Keefe. She was raised and attended school in Seattle, graduating from Holy Angels High School in 1954. On June 23, 1956, Ellen was united in marriage to Arnold Juhler in Seattle. Together they made their home in Waterloo, IA. In 1958, they moved to Mason City, IA where Ellen became a homemaker and loving mother. In 1960, the family moved to Minneapolis, MN and in 1963 they settled in Sioux Falls. Ellen began her career as a benefits clerk with Avera McKennan Hospital. She loved every moment of her career and particularly enjoyed the people. Ellen retired in 2001, after 20 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Joseph Alter Society Group # 12, and was a Lioness charter member. Socially, Ellen enjoyed her church groups and Lioness meetings, and in her free time, liked to read. In the center of her life was her family. Ellen cherished spending time with her children and grandchildren, and was very supportive; she always made a point of attending their activities. True to her Irish heritage, Ellen was outgoing, generous, and of course was blessed with a strong Irish sense of humor. Blessed with a spirit of compassion, Ellen would always attend to the needs of others before her own. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Arnold Juhler, Sioux Falls, SD; son, Michael (Carla) Juhler, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Angie Rabon (Joe), Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Alyssa Juhler, Mattie Rabon, and Katelyn Juhler; brothers, Walter O'Keefe, Medford, OR, Pat O'Keefe (Marlene), Port Townsend, WA; and her sister, Louise (Ray) Burris, Snohomish, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia; and five brothers. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 10 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. The rite of Committal will precede the service, and will be held at 9:45 am Tuesday at St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation begins at noon, Monday, with the family present to greet friends following the wake service at 7:00 Monday evening at Miller Funeral Home, 13th and Main Avenue. The family of Ellen Juhler would like to extend their thanks to the staff of Waterford at All Saints as well as the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the tender care and support given to Ellen and the family.
