Marvin Von Seggern was soloist and Mrs. Kenneth Anderson served as organist. Pallbearers are Charles Beckenhauer, Lester Thompson, Grant Woerman, Lyle Jaspersen, Roscoe Wood and Norris Maack. Elly Johanna Rahlf was born April 17, 1888, in Burg, Island of Fehmarn, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the daughter of Nicholas and Catharina (Tiedgen) Rahlf. She came to the United States in 1890 with her family to a farm in Cuming, Nebraska. The surname Rahlf became Ralph. She used the name Ellen during her lifetime. She attended Midland College in Fremont and became a Registered Nurse, having completed her training at Nicholas Senn Hospital in Omaha. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Cuming County Registered Nurses Organization. Surviving are one brother, Dr. Carl (Bertha) Ralph of Los Angeles, CA; one sister, Mary Zick of Omaha; two nephews, Rono Ralph of Los Angeles, CA, and Ralph Grunke of Omaha; and two nieces, Marilyn (Joseph) Allen of Rye, NY, and Evelyn (Warren) Huettelmaier of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Katie Grunke and Frieda Ralph and two brothers, Alfred Ralph and Henry Ralph. One brother, Johannes Rahlf and one sister, Alma Rahlf died as infants in Germany. West Point Republican, Mar 31, 1966 Notes: Her father departed by himself for the United States, arriving in 1888 and settled on a farm in Cuming County, Nebraska near West Point. Elly, along with her mother, three brothers, Alfred, Heinrich and Carl and three sisters, Catharine, Maria and Frieda, all departed for the United States aboard the ship Normannia, arriving in New York on May 31, 1890, and joined their father on the farm near West Point. Added Note: Ellen was born in 1888, but her gravestone has the year 1890, which is a mistake.
