Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial was at Minden Cemetery before services. She was born May 12, 1915, in Seneca to Carl and Christine (Paulsen) Jacobsen. On June 17, 1937, she married Eldon Morris. He died May 24, 1981. Survivors include her daughter, Carol Burge and her husband, Leon, of Yuma, Ariz.; sons, Myron Morris and his wife, Sheryl, of Minden and Merlin Morris and his wife, Linda, of Youngtown, Ariz.; grandchildren and spouses, Mark and Alyson Morris, Michael and Beatriz Morris, Mary and Chris Goebel, Dawn and James Santeford, Kevin and Shelley Burge, Tammy and Tony Ellis, Sandy and Pat Long, Jennifer and Joel Kazmierczak and Crystal and Mitch Remy; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was born in a sod house. About three years after she was born, Ellen and her parents moved back to Minden where her brother Leo was born. Her parents moved to another farm before buying a farm close to Upland. Ellen and Eldon lived the first few years of their married life on a farm near Minden before moving to Eldon's father's homestead. They moved to Minden in 1961. Ellen helped ladies with wallpapering in Upland and worked at the Pioneer Village Motel for several years after they moved to Minden. After Eldon died, Ellen wintered in Yuma and stayed with her daughter Carol and family. She assisted a number of her older friends or relatives by helping them clean their houses after she stopped working at the motel. She liked playing cards with her friends, reading, embroidery, and dining and visiting with friends at the Senior Citizen's Center, and she enjoyed time with her family. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Carlton; and brother, Leo.
