She died at the Harrington Homestead in Pottawatomie County, Kansas, four miles west and three miles south of Lillis, Marshall County, Kansas. She was the wife of James Harrington, (1827 - 1887) who was from County Cork, Ireland. Their son James (1860 -1947) and daughter Margaret Morrissey (1860 - 1947) were born at Fall River, Massachusetts. The family moved to the Midwest in a covered wagon pulled by a pair of oxen. Their second son, William (1866 - 1948) was born on this journey. James Harrington found employment in the Leavenworth, Leavenworth, Kansas, coal mines. It is believed that their daughter Julianne (1867- 1882) was born in Leavenworth and that two other children were born and died there. Son Philip (1869 - 1960) was born near Duluth, Kansas, on the way out to the prairie Homestead of Irish Creek. Son Daniel (1871 - 1930) and daughter Ellen Keating (1874 - 1947) were born at the Pottawatomie County, Homestead. Ellen Regan Harrington had several siblings who homesteaded in Kansas. Her sisters Julia Regan and Maggie Regan Farrell and brother Daniel Regan (d. 1917) settled in the Niles and Solomon, Kansas, communities. Her sister Johanna Regan Murphy (1840 - 1927), wife of John Murphy (1843 - 1921) homesteaded on a farm about three miles north of the Harringtons. The Murphys had two daughters who married and raised families on Irish Creek; Katie Murphy Weinert (1881 - 1958) wife of Charles Weinert (1880 - 1975), and Hannah Murphy Hagarty (1885 -1968),wife of Thomas Hagarty (1887 - 1970). Their daughter Bridget Murphy Ryan (1873 - 1970), wife of Michael Ryan (1868 - 1945) lived many years on a farm west of Blaine. They also had sons Dave & Willie Murphy who lived in Colorado. Jerry and Carol Keating (son of Frank and Lillian Hayes Keating) and family are the only descendants of James and Ellen Harrington living on Irish Creek today. Dates of Birth were taken from the tombstones of the Harrington family; some of these dates are obviously in error and are in conflict with the 1931 Affidavit of Mr. Hudson.
