ELLEN KEVAN COMMITS SUICIDE Walnut, Ia., Oct. 30 - (Special) - Despondency following the return of her daughter, Gladys Kevan, to the state hospital at Clarinda a week ago, was blamed today for the suicide death of Mrs. Ellen Kite Kevan, 73, a long time resident of this vicinity, yesterday morning. ELLEN KEVAN COMMITS SUICIDE Walnut, Ia., Oct. 30 - (Special) - Despondency following the return of her daughter, Gladys Kevan, to the state hospital at Clarinda a week ago, was blamed today for the suicide death of Mrs. Ellen Kite Kevan, 73, a long time resident of this vicinity, yesterday morning. In a note left by Mrs. Kevan, she is said to have expressed the fear that she, too, might become mentally unbalanced. Mrs. Kevan hanged herself from a lamp hook in the ceiling of a room in her home near Walnut, presumably about 8 o'clock yesterday morning. Her body was found by a son, Albert, when he brought milk to his mother's yesterday morning. Finding the doors of the home locked, the son investigated and discovered his mother's body. The daughter who was taken to the state hospital a week ago, had previously been committed tot the institution in 1927, but was later released and had been living with her mother. Mrs. Kevan recently purchased a home in Walnut and was making preparations for moving into town. Mrs. Kevan was born in Cedary county, Ia., October 27, 1866, and came to Walnut with her parents in 1873. She was married in 1892 to William Kevan and had since lived continuously on the farm where she died. Mr. Kevan died October 24, 1927. Surviving beside the son and daughter are three brothers, I. N. Kite of Indianola, D. M Kite of Phoenix, Arizona, and Benjamin Kite of LaPryor, Texas. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church here, the Rev. C. F.
