Description	:	Elliott Richard Havick, the son of Lake C. and Bernadine (Haskins) Havick was born August 25, 1918, on a farm west of Harlan, Iowa. He attended school at Harlan, Iowa. On April 24, 1942, Elliot was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. He served his country during World War II. Elliot was awarded an Asiatic Pacific Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945, at Camp Polk, Louisiana. Read More	Elliott Richard Havick, the son of Lake C. and Bernadine (Haskins) Havick was born August 25, 1918, on a farm west of Harlan, Iowa. He attended school at Harlan, Iowa. On April 24, 1942, Elliot was inducted into the United States Army at Fort Des Moines, Iowa. He served his country during World War II. Elliot was awarded an Asiatic Pacific Service Ribbon and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 23, 1945, at Camp Polk, Louisiana. Following his honorable discharge, Elliot worked in hospitals as an Orderly, in California, at Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, as well as, Myrtue Memorial Hospital in Harlan, Iowa. Elliot retired in 1975 from Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Harlan, Iowa. Elliot enjoyed attending the Stock Car Races. Elliot died on Saturday, July 1, 2006, at the Little Flower Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Earling, Iowa, having attained the age of eighty-seven years, ten months, and six days. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Naomi Ludwig, Lois Schultz, and Eleanor Browning. Survivors include his nieces: Jodi Ratica of Fort Worth, Texas; Sandi Bovaro of Chicago, Illinois; Linda Sue Lamb of San Diego, California; other relatives and many friends. Graveside Services were held on Thursday July 6, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Harlan Cemetery in Harlan, Iowa, with Military Honors conducted by the American Legion Helmer Reylet Post No. 150 and the Shelby County VFW Post No. 941.
