Busse, five children, Theresa Eichinger and husband Mark, Erin Kane, Felicia, Eric and Tim Busse, all of Marion; his father, Dan W. Busse of Tipton; a brother Craig Busse and wife Catherine; three sisters, Susan Kline and husband Jim, Linda Kline and husband Tom, and Beth Fowler and husband David; and a granddaughter, Valerie Busse. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola. Born Jan. 31, 1943, in New Hampton, to Daniel W. and Lola G. Davis Busse, he married Sharon Faye Ramage on Jan. 8, 1966, in Balboa Park Baptist Church, San Diego, Calif. He retired from the Marion Police Department in 1996 after 23 years in the force, serving for 17 years as a sergeant. He was a very active member of Squaw Creek Baptist Church, where he played the piano, sang in the choir and was a church cashier. He was a member of American Legion Post 298, Iowa State Policeman Association, was in the Navy for four years, was an adviser for the Cedar Rapids Police Explorer Post 107, and was a foster parent for 11 years.
