Mr. Hatcher grew up on his parents farm in Middleburg with his 11 brothers and sisters. He started his own logging business at the young age of 17 and continued working until his illness. Read More	OBITUARY Florida Times Union Jacksonvile, Duval County, FL April 18, 2003 Ellis " Lumpy" Hatcher Jr., 80, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, April 16, 2003 after a brave struggle with cancer. Mr. Hatcher grew up on his parents farm in Middleburg with his 11 brothers and sisters. He started his own logging business at the young age of 17 and continued working until his illness. He was both a proud and humble man who enjoyed life but particularly fishing, watching wrestling matches and listening to bluegrass music. When he wasnt tending his cattle or managing business operations, he liked vacationing in the Great Smoky Mountains with his family. Many knew him for his generous nature and irresistible sense of humor. His keen observations of life and his word of wisdom will forever remain an inspiration to those he leaves behind. Mr. Hatcher was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Mary Mosley Hatcher, a daughter Delores and a son Dwight. Loved ones left to cherish the sparkle in his blue eyes include his children JoAnn Green (Milton), Dean Gibson (Johnnie), Patricia Brooks (Ronald), Terry Hatcher, Ellis Hatcher III and Carrie Farmer (Brad), sister; Elsie Padgett and Kathleen Oliver (Kelvin), 13 grandchildren, 19 greatgrandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. The family received visitors in the Chapel of Pons Family Funeral Home Friday, April 18th between 68 p.m. Brother Charlie Hunt will officiate services at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 19, at Black Pond Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Middleburg United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Hatchers family respectfully declines flowers and ask that contributions be made to Community Hospice of NE FL, 728 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, FL in appreciation of the fine care they provided. Arrangements are under the care of Pons Family Funeral Home, 3265 Highway 17, Green Cove Springs
