Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Burlington, he was the son of Orrin Rice and Violet Wood Williams Bailey. On Nov. 23, 1943, he married Kathryn Elaine Sater. She died Dec. 22, 1994. Read More	The Burlington Hawkeye-7/29/2004 Ellis Bailey Ellis Orrin Bailey, 86, of McAllen, Texas, formerly of Middletown, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at The Biltmore in McAllen. Born Jan. 8, 1918, in Burlington, he was the son of Orrin Rice and Violet Wood Williams Bailey. On Nov. 23, 1943, he married Kathryn Elaine Sater. She died Dec. 22, 1994. On Oct. 3, 1996, he married Winnie Jane Pace Barnett in Middletown. Mr. Bailey was postmaster in Middletown for 20 years and a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Middletown Presbyterian Church and was involved in the leadership of the church for many years. He enjoyed playing basketball, competing in Senior Olympics, experimental aircraft and was an avid trumpet player. He was the former owner and caretaker of the Blackhawk Tree. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of Alamo, Texas; three sons, Brent Bailey of Los Cruces, N.M., Kyle Bailey of Middletown and Lane Bailey of Muscatine; one daughter, Tona Feuerbach of Wilton; nine grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and three sisters, Joanna Fortin of Connecticut, Charlotte Temererio of Maryland and June King of Iowa City. Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Bailey will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church in Middletown, with the Rev. Randy Gearhart officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102 and 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Hamilton-Walters Marine Corps League Honor Guard will be in Jaggar Cemetery in Danville.
