Wingate, Aug. 21.--One of the saddest events the writer has been called upon to chronicle is that of the death of our friend and neighbor, Mr. E. Pernay Stewart, which occurred early Sunday morning. Mr. Stewart had been sick for about four weeks with typhoid fever resulting as above stated. The deceased was about 42 years old, and was the youngest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Stewart and lived on the old homestead about three miles north of Wingate. He was one of our very best citizens, upright in his life and walk, and in his dealings with his fellows; kinda and accommodating to everyone who sought help or counsel; always ready to help along any good cause, a fine and successful farmer; an excellent husband and father. In a word, he was as near a model man as we often find. Mr. Stewart was not a member of any church but professed a bright hope for the future. He is survived by a wife and several children, four brothers and two sisters. The brothers are Messrs. T. C. Stewart, G. M. Stewart, Jodie and James Stewart. The sisters are Mrs. Lydia Perry and Mrs. W. H. Mullis. Funeral was held at Union Grove church Monday at 11 o'clock. Rev. Walter Edwards conducted the services.
