Divide Ave., Bismarck. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Beulah. Elma was born Sept. 27, 1921, north of Beulah, the daughter of Fredrick and Christina (Mettler) Pfennig. She was raised on the family farm and attended country schools. Elma married Emil H. Lapp on March 14, 1943, in Beulah. She was raised on the family farm and attended country schools. Elma married Emil H. Lapp on March 14, 1943, in Beulah. The family lived on the farm until 1969, when they moved to Bismarck, but still continued farming. Emil passed away in 1982 and Elma continued living in Bismarck. As a child and throughout her life, music was so important to Elma. She could pick up an instrument and seriously know how to play it after a few minutes. And at a time in life when there were few distractions, she and her family made their own entertainment through music. It was a joy to watch and listen. In later years after Emil died, music continued to be an outlet. Elma especially enjoyed the time spent with her family. She is survived by her son, Emil Jr. (Donna) Lapp, Bismarck; her grandchildren, Kristi (Matt) Schatz, Mike (Kaylee) Lapp, Trina (Pat) Gilhooly and Brandon Lapp; three great-grandchildren; and her two sisters, Ardella Weigum, Sun City, Ariz., and Bertha Wolf, Beulah. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Dale; eight brothers and sisters; and two infant sisters.
