Description	:	ELMA SARAH SLABACH, 89, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington. Born Sept. 17, 1921, in Milo, N.D., she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Graber) Schwietert. She married Irvin Slabach on Sept. 21, 1942 in Middlebury, Ind., he survives in Roanoke. She was a life long homemaker and a very active member of the Waynedale Baptist Church in Fort Wayne. Read More	ELMA SARAH SLABACH, 89, of Roanoke, died on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Parkview Huntington Hospital in Huntington. Born Sept. 17, 1921, in Milo, N.D., she was the daughter of the late William and Anna (Graber) Schwietert. She married Irvin Slabach on Sept. 21, 1942 in Middlebury, Ind., he survives in Roanoke. She was a life long homemaker and a very active member of the Waynedale Baptist Church in Fort Wayne. She loved sending cards, especially birthday cards, to family, friends and every other person that she came in contact with over the years. She also enjoyed making and sharing homemade jams. Also surviving are four sons; Rich (Pat) Slabach of Bloomington, Bill (Brenda) Slabach of Churubusco, Fred (Melany Neilson) Slabach of Fort Worth, Texas and Don (Jan) Slabach of Jackson, Miss.; four daughters, Marge Slabach (Dianne Safholm) of Fremont, Calif., Jeanette Campbell of Roanoke, Dorth (Dan Wiebe) Slabach of Clarksdale, Miss. and Malinda Hinnenkamp of Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three brothers; and seven sisters. Funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, July 11, 2011 at Waynedale Baptist Church, 633 Lower Huntington Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Officiating the funeral service will be Pastor Wayne Gullion. Visitation also from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2011 at the church. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery in Roanoke. Preferred Memorials may be made to Waynedale Baptist Church.
