On November 20, 1939, Elmer and Hilda Groteluschen eloped to Sioux City, Iowa. Elmer was life long Platte County farmer. He enjoyed bowling, playing pool, and swimming. Elmer served on the District 58 School Board for many years. He enjoyed raising his purebred Angus Cattle. When he had free time, Elmer worked at Creston Manufacturing.
