Chaplain Elmer B., son of Smith and Eliza Chaplain, was born April 6, 1890, and departed this life Nov. 20, 1906, aged 16 years, 7 months and 14 days. He lived at Nyesville, Parke County, all his life. He left to mourn his loss his father, his step-mother, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends. Chaplain Elmer B., son of Smith and Eliza Chaplain, was born April 6, 1890, and departed this life Nov. 20, 1906, aged 16 years, 7 months and 14 days. He lived at Nyesville, Parke County, all his life. He left to mourn his loss his father, his step-mother, 4 brothers, 4 sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends. One elder sister and his mother preceded him some years ago. He united with the U.B. Church during the protracted meeting held by Rev. Minnie Thorne in the winter of 1904. He was a kind, tender-hearted lad and was loved by all who knew him. It is too hard for us. We cannot understand why a young life so full of promise should be snatched away from us as a flower that is crushed beneath the furrow's weight, but God doeth all things well. He knoweth best and to Him all must look for comfort in such bereavement as this. Peace be to his ashes. The funeral was conducted at the U.B.Church at Sand Creek by Rev. Van Cleave at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Internment at Rowe Cemetery.
