Ashburn Funeral Home is in charge. He died at his home Friday, Oct. 24, 2008. Elmer Dale Friedrich was born on Jan. 3, 1938, in Plainview to Jacob and Elsie (Weyhrich) Friedrich. After he graduated from Plainview High School in 1955, Friedrich attended Wayne State College. Friedrich worked for KS-NE Gas Co. for two years and then for the cement industry for the next 46 years. He retired at the age of 67 and moved back to his hometown of Plainview. He loved the arts and was known for his creative and meticulous woodcarvings. Friedrich loved his family, nature, gardening and animals. He enjoyed life and lived it fully each and every day. Friedrich was preceded in death by his parents Jacob and Elsie Friedrich and his brother Clifford Friedrich of Plainview. He is survived by his wife Ann of Plainview; sister Dorothy Krohn of Plainview; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Marjorie Friedrich of Plainview; his sister-in-law, Alice Friedrich of Plainview; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline Friedrich-Gatrost and Jim Gatrost of Redlands, Calif.; daughter and son-in-law, Kristen Yount and John Kucer of Bellevue; three stepdaughters and sons-in-laws, Diane and Joe Mesgleski of Point Pleasant Beach, N.J., Ann and Matt Marano of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Cheryl and Louie Chavez of Alamagordo, N.M.; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
