Born April 26, 1935, he was the second youngest son of the late Carlyle and Flora (Allen) Casey. Elmer's working years started at the age of 14 when he went to work in the bush. Born April 26, 1935, he was the second youngest son of the late Carlyle and Flora (Allen) Casey. Elmer's working years started at the age of 14 when he went to work in the bush. He continued his career in many forms, a truck driver, steel worker and a coal miner (#2). In the fall of 1956 he went to British Columbia to work on heavy equipment. In 1957 he married Dina Trenholm. Later in the early 1970's they leased a garage in Port Phillip from Irving Oil and added a lunch counter. In 1975 they purchased Orrin's Diner (from the late Orrin Blois), and renamed it Casey's Restaurant. Elmer's love of trucking led him to purchase two tractor trailers and become a broker for Chet's Transport, Calais, Maine, travelling between Newfoundland and the United States. From 1981 – 1991 he worked for the North Shore Forestry in Pugwash and in the 2000's headed west again, making his home in Rimbey, Alberta. Surviving are three daughters, Terri (Darren Halverson), Port Howe; Shelly and Heather (Gunnar Dudenhoeffer); son, Adam; step-son, Shayne (Trinity Leamont), all residing in Alberta; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Carlyle Jr., Port Howe; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two children in infancy; grandson, Nathan; brothers, Victor, Maitland and Delbert; daughter-in-law, Cathey. In keeping with Elmer's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. A private family burial will be held at a later date in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
