Description	:	Elmer D. Einrem, 82, Rapid City, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice of the Hills. Elmer was born February 18, 1929 in Springfield, SD to Joseph and Martha (Dykstra) Einrem. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1951. Elmer married Etha Reisner on August 16, 1961 in Yankton, SD. They moved to Rapid City in 1966 where Elmer went to work for himself as a contract painter. Einrem, 82, Rapid City, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 at the Rapid City Regional Hospital Hospice of the Hills. Elmer was born February 18, 1929 in Springfield, SD to Joseph and Martha (Dykstra) Einrem. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1951. Elmer married Etha Reisner on August 16, 1961 in Yankton, SD. They moved to Rapid City in 1966 where Elmer went to work for himself as a contract painter. He didn't need many things to make him happy. His family, friends, fishing and puppy's (his girls) were enough for him. He always had a joke or story to tell you. Everyone enjoyed his company and his smile. He is with his wife again. Oh, how he missed her this last year. Almost every conversation involved Etha. He was at peace with his illness and was ready to "Go Home" as he would say. We all knew what he meant. We will love and miss you always. "I'm going fishing….. Catch ya later….." Elmer enjoyed his work on the farm before becoming a painter and especially enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his daughters, Darla (Cecil) Hancher and Marlene Einrem both of Rapid City; brother, Walt Einrem, Springfield, SD; four grandchildren, Amber (Todd) Torres, Rapid City, Lisa (Chad) Kesterson, Clovis, NM, Tiffany (Joshua) Judge, Rapid City, Cassie Hancher, Denver, CO; and five great-grandchildren, Trenton Torress, Rapid City, Brittany Kesterson, Hayley Kesterson, Jonathan Kesterson all of Clovis, NM, and Kylie Pursley, Denver, CO. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Etha; one brother; and one infant son. Memorial services will be Monday, September 19, 2011 at 11:00am at Kirk Funeral Home in Rapid City with Pastor Jack Jewett officiating. Inurnment will follow on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:00am CDT at the Norwegian Cemetery south of Avon, SD with the South Dakota National Guard providing military honors.
