Description	:	Elmer E. Weil, 92, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 17, 2013. Elmer was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Hesper, the oldest of 10 children of John Jr. and Lydia Eckhardt Weil. He attended the Elder Grove School before moving with his family to a farm southwest of Billings in 1931. He finished his education in Billings. He worked for Salt Creek... Read More	Elmer E. Weil, 92, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family on June 17, 2013. Elmer was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Hesper, the oldest of 10 children of John Jr. and Lydia Eckhardt Weil. He attended the Elder Grove School before moving with his family to a farm southwest of Billings in 1931. He finished his education in Billings. Elmer was drafted into the United States Army Air Corps in May of 1942. He served three years in England as a military policeman. He received his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He worked for Salt Creek Freightways for six years where he met his future wife, Jean, and then for Cenex Distribution Center for 22 years. He then went to work for the Billings School district as a custodian until retiring in 1986. Elmer married Jean Patterson on Sept. 14, 1963. They had one daughter, Thelma. He always enjoyed a beer and loved being surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who always brought a smile to his face. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jean, brothers Rueben, Adolf, Walter, Robert and William and sisters Marion and Marjorie. He is survived by his brother Irvin, of Billings; sister Betty Frank, of Texas, daughter Thelma, grandchildren Joseph (Jennifer), Soncerae, Janae, great-grandchildren Ashton, Dylan, BW, Layla, all of Billings; and multiple nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Andrew Jefferson and Michelle Floor for their friendship and caregiving during Elmer's final months. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a 64-year member of the American Legion. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 21, at Trinity Lutheran Church with interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, at Smith Funeral Chapel Downtown. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Trinity Lutheran Church or charity of one's choice.
